I spent most of Sunday finishing the alterations to my camera while poor Jim was very anxiously waiting to make a start. The camera was finished eventually and I hurriedly packed my kit. We had a little tea at 4 oclock and left home at 5 minutes to 5. It was a glorious evening. Warm and sunny, with just a few pretty clouds about making the view lovely in all directions. We started off up the London road and turned right to Litchborough. Here we stopped to adjust Jim's mudguard and then went on to Blakesley where we saw the miniature railway alongside the big one. We continued then towards Helmdon but took a wrong turning and found ourselves near Colworth. We paused to watch a GWR train going through a very deep cutting, then found a signpost pointing to Brackley and rode off in that direction. By this time the sky had clouded over, and by the time we got to Brackley it was raining hard. We went on then to Buckingham and the rain cleared off a bit. At Buckingham we enquired of a policeman where we could get a cup of coffee but the only place was a hotel and we did not care about that. About half a mile out of Buckingham, at the top of a hill we sat down on the side of the road and ate an orange each. We went on then to Winslow feeling rather tired. The weather was fine though dull. At Winslow we turned up a side road to look for a camping place.
